Proof that Drudge Report is Racist and Manipulative

I'll just keep adding more as I spot them- seems like Drudge is getting more emboldened and hellbent on firing up a race panic in America every day... he could at least be more subtle, some of these aren't even subliminal. Eesh.

He's a dickhead. And the sad thing is tht he's Jewish and very possibly gay. Pathetic.

How are these headlines racist? Are you saying he's a racist because he provides LINKS to stories about African Americans that SOMEONE ELSE wrote? He can't report urban crime? Really?

If you read Drudge Report consistently and keenly enough, you would understand exactly what I'm talking about. He has an agenda, and he knows who his conservative target audience is and how they will react to what he links. Sure he links articles other people wrote, but there are millions of links out there so the stories he specifically chooses to promote and the way he decides to display them makes a huge difference. I'm not saying HE's racist, I hardly know the guy, but I'm saying his website can be racist, and bigotted, and just fucked up sometimes. And I think it's only fair to point it out. It's not really turning its readers racist but rather encouraging the way many of them already think. As The Simpsons said about Fox News, "Not racist, but #1 with racists."

After reading all of these headlines, I have to agree with the post on January 5, 2012. I don't think you can handle the truth of what goes on in the real world. It's honest journalism that is coming from Drudge report. Truth hurts.

big·ot·ed
   [big-uh-tid]
adjective
utterly intolerant of any creed, belief, or opinion that differs from one's own.

Hmmmmmm... Seems like you're more than a little intolerant of Drudge's beliefs. Bigot.

Check out their sources too. The Simpsons. You seriously get your information from cartoons?

I knew someone would pick on that Simpsons mention... No I do not get my "information" from cartoons, but sometimes even cartoons make poignant commentary. Sorry if you find that problematic. Not to mention, I actually rarely watch the show- I heard about the joke via some news source and it stuck with me.

Anyway, I admit I stand corrected because I did not think to look up the dictionary definition of bigoted. I instead went with some overgeneralized meaning I've come to connect it with. I don't think Drudge is "utterly" intolerant of "ANY" opinion other than his own. I have in fact noticed some of his stronger biases soften over time and even switch, and I think he can be impressively bipartisan sometimes. So I'll replace bigoted in the title with something more appropriate- thanks for the information.

You can think whatever you want about me or my post. But I personally don't think I'm a bigot- I just believe in fairness. Drudge can think and say whatever he wants, and I'm fine with that. But I also believe that when someone has so much power due to the huge audience he reaches every day with his website and, yes, inevitable biases, he has a humungous responsibility for the type of information he puts out there. If he chooses to subtly confirm and strengthen people's racism, I think I have every right to make a post that tracks that trend so that it doesn't just go unnoticed and not properly scrutinized. It's the beauty of the internet- even a behemoth of a news source can be checked by a random schmuck like me just because 'drudge report racist' brings this site up on the top of google search results.

Speaking of, this might be a good time to mention- I've noticed that virtually all visitors who find this site by searching 'drudge report is racist' are from somewhere in Texas. Only like 1% are not from Texas. What's up with that? Can anyone explain? Is it because Texas is just a big state, or they really like Drudge, or think it's racist, or Drudge has minions planted there looking at what people say online? Just curious...

Finally, I just want to say it's been a lot 'harder' to spot racist headlines on Drudge in the past months since this post. I don't know if that is just a coincidence or Drudge has actually taken notice of this and/or other sources of criticism and decided to change. But either way, I'm glad to see the change, and I doubt it has had any negative effect on Drudge's popularity, so he's done the right thing. Hopefully I won't have to add any more headlines to this post for a long time coming.

/epically long comment.

...Aaand I already have to take back what I said about Drudge not having racist headlines in a long time. The way he has chosen to present the Trayvon Martin case is disturbingly one-sided and, yes, racist.
