Alexa Chung Update

I've recorded and watched every "It's On with Alexa Chung" episode so far. It's good, okay!

I just wanted to send props to the talented cutie ptutie Conor Knighton of Infomania, who I already gushed about here 5 million years ago. MTV, do you know how impressed I was with you after I got over the shock of seeing him on the show? Good job! You deserve a pat on he back for that decision.

He was great, especially for his first time. And you could tell Alexa liked him because she gave him a high-five in the end. Hey, MTV, keep your good streak going and bring him on the show again. I would also be pretty awesome if you brought Sarah Haskins, also of Infomania and Current TV fame, who does the revered "Target Women" clips.

Hmm other suggestions for future celeb-gossip-guests (I love how they keep rotating):

-Perez Hilton. That would be hilarious. Seriously, get on that.
-Trent of Pink is the New Blog
-Michael K of the hilariously snarky blog Dlisted
-Kathy Griffin. yeahhh girl.
-Rosie O'Donnell. HA.
-Tom Green. OMG can you imagine.
-Rich from the fourfour blog. Please! Also his famous cat Winston would get major bonus points.
-Tracie, the girl that does the "Pot Psychology" videos with Rich on Jezebel
-the ~famous mods over at ONTD - mattchew03, ecctv, and brenden
-Martha Stewart. or Ina Garten! omg how great would that be if it was both of them.
-John Mayer. He's funny, mmkay.
-Joel McHale of The Soup!
-some of those people from the now cancelled Best Week Ever THE SHOW. Not the blog and that horrible BWE blog woman (ok gosh she's not horrible I know I know BUT SHE IS) Michelle something or other. Not her. I'm talking that guy that was always high... people like that. BTW Michelle or whatever was a mega bitch the second time she was on "It's On." WTF girl, chill and go away.
-Adam Lambert. Yeaaahh.
-Simon Amstell or Alex Zane! bring some British imports por favor.
-Kanye West! Hhahaha.
-Lady Gaga. yes please.

Ok that's enough. MTV show poducers pay attention, I have provided you with solid gold right there.

Also, the more the merrier on the same show. Today three members of some sketch comedy group talked with Alexa about the gossips and it was a lot funner with less awkward silences than usual.

And Alexa, you are marvelous darling. The girl is a natural. Keep doing your thang.

OMG NO WAI!!! Skins in America!!

This is amazing. FINALLY the rest of the US can witness the awesomeness that is Skins.

It's kind of crazy because this is exactly what I complained about at the end of this post back in February. But now my wishes have been answered and now I will be able to watch Skins in all of its non-crappy-internet-video-quality glory: on TV! That's right, Skins is going to be on BBC America (not quite as good as the major networks or even MTV, but good enough). Here's all the info:

Skins is set to air in the US on BBC America.

What on earth will they make of the outrageous, honest and buoyant kids when compared to the groomed kids of The OC or Gossip Girl?

Hopefully it will be a wake up call on depicting teenagers as true teenagers, not just young adults with adult values. But it will also push a lot of buttons for its use of sex, drugs and rock & roll. At least on cable it has a lot more leeway.

The series will air in a 9pm timeslot from August 13.

The second series of Skins airs at 10pm Mondays on SBS (although it's resting for 2 weeks during the Tour de France cycling -back July 21).

Producers have also indicated all but one of the current cast will be replaced for the third series.

August 13th! That's so soon! GAH.

Awesome Concert Video #2: Pulp at Glastonbury '95

A.C.V #1 was of the Killers at T in the Park, and now I bring to you the second installment. Pulp is a band fronted by Jarvis Cocker, who has been solo for quite a few years now. This video shows Pulp performing "Common People" off of the album Different Class. This performance is really entertaining and not in small part because of the crazy crowd singing along to every word. The song is also adorable and I love how Jarvis acts everything out and affects his voice to make it sound conversational. So watch this much-lauded performance at the height of Pulp's career:

SKINS: Bow Down to its Greatness (videos)

Skins is one of the best shows on TV these days. And... it doesn't even air in America. Nope- it comes from those cooler people over in the UK. The second season starts on Monday but the Skins Myspace has been posting the whole first episode in parts during the last couple days and left them up until they reached 10,000 viewers (which they have quite quickly). But don't you despair, because of course the videos have been uploaded promptly all over the internets. Here are the clips (although I really, truly suggest that if you have not watched the show yet, you should watch it from the beginning. Otherwise you will have absolutely no idea what's going on. It's worth it, trust. Try searching "skins" on Youtube or Daily Motion):

[Warning- basically all of the Skins episodes as far as I can remember are somewhat NSFW- some more than others]

Oh, and the first part starts off with an annoyingly long dance sequence, just so you know...

Part 1:

Part 2:

Part 3:

Part 4, the final one, will be up on Myspace tomorrow!

Now the real question is: why is this show not airing in America? A show this good? Is America too prude? Well I suppose it is, and I am to some extent as well, because I was pretty shocked that the very first episode started right off the bat with a naked woman walking around and a teenager watching her from his room. But that's the charm of the show! And I'm sure cable networks can get away with it, blurring to their hearts' desires and all of that. So what's the deal?

My theory: America is not too prude, but too proud. Think about it: when was the last time a foreign show made it onto any US cable channels, not to mention the major networks? And I'm not talking about BBC America. It's pretty sad, really. I know for a fact that basically ALL other countries have US shows bombarded at them. And I also know for a fact that this show would be fawned upon in America. Gossip Girl is half the quality and was widely praised/watched/buzzed about. So what gives? If there's a TV show that is this good, it should be brought here, whether it's American or not. At least I have the internet because otherwise I would have never heard of this show. So, TV execs- pick up this damn show! It's a shame to watch it in crappy quality all the time.
